How Remote Magnet Downloading Works (and Why It Saves Your Battery)
Remote fetching is the single most useful feature in modern cloud storage — and the least understood. Here's how it works, and why it changes the way you handle large files.
The old way
You open a torrent client. Your laptop spins up. Your ISP throttles the connection. Your battery drains. Three hours later you have a file — and you can't close the lid.
The remote way
On freevault Pro and Max, you paste an HTTP, FTP or magnet link into your dashboard. Our cloud servers fetch the content at multi-gigabit speeds directly into your vault. Your device is never involved in the transfer.
What that gets you
- Battery — your phone and laptop aren't downloading anything.
- Bandwidth — your home connection isn't saturated for hours.
- Speed — datacentre links are far faster than residential ones.
- Continuity — close the laptop, the fetch continues.
Then what?
Once the file lands in your vault, you can stream it directly to Stremio, VLC or Infuse — no local download required.
Remote fetching isn't about piracy. It's about moving the heavy lifting off your device and onto infrastructure built for it.
You are responsible for the content you fetch. See our terms for acceptable use.
